Probate Solicitor

The role will require you to be able to advise clients in connection with the making of Wills and Codicils (including tax planning, where appropriate); the completion of Lasting Powers of Attorney (both property and financial affairs and health and welfare); the administration of estates, both with and without a Will; the setting up and administration of trusts, and variation of Wills. You will be expected to work unsupervised, and to be able to deal with all aspects of such matters, from initial instructions to completion. You will be expected to work with principal director to build up the Department by seeking new sources of work. Bishop Lloyd & Jackson operates an ‘open door’ policy and you will be expected to assist existing and future members of the Department as required. Although not essential a working knowledge of contentious probate work would be an advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

Essential:                              Unsupervised legal experience in handling private client work including Wills, tax planning, administration of estates and Lasting Powers of Attorney from initial instructions to completion of the transaction including post-completion work.

Essential:                              Solicitor with one year’s working experience.

Essential:                              Ability to clearly communicate with clients and third parties.

Preferred:                              Working knowledge of contentious probate work.

Preferred:                              Some working knowledge in Partnership Law

Preferred:                              Solicitor with not less than five years’ unsupervised working experience.

ABILITIES

Essential:                              Ability to take full responsibility for all aspects of the job outlined above.

Essential:                              Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines, and to prioritise work.
