As a tenant you are entitled by law to live in decent accommodation which is free from disrepair. If your property suffers from the following conditions, you may have a claim against your landlord:

NO WIN, NO FEE
People are often worried when going to lawyers as they fear that they will have to pay exorbitant fees for the work done on their case. However, our clients can rest assured that their matter will be dealt with on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis.
We are able to tell you at the very beginning whether we feel that you have a good case. If so, it can be be funded on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis which means that we will not charge you for our work. We will get our costs from your landlord as it is usual for the other side to pay them if we win the claim.
We will visit your property so that you do not have to attend our offices, provided you live in or close to London. By doing this, we can assess the merits of your case with confidence. If your property is further away, we can arrange for an independent surveyor or an Environmental Health Officer to inspect your property and prepare a report.
COMPENSATION / DAMAGES
You may be entitled to compensation for having to live in a property which is in a state of disrepair. The courts commonly award damages of around £1,000 – £2,000 for each year that a person has endured living in severe conditions. If your rent is high, you may be awarded even more.
You are entitled to claim for up to 6 years.
We recently won £16,000 for 3 years of disrepair to our client’s property with the Court ordering that the landlord pay our legal fees.
